Getting Clicks but No Sales? Why Your Website Matters When Running Ads
Your advertising might be attracting plenty of clicks, but what happens when someone reaches your website? If visitors aren’t converting, increasing your ad budget isn’t necessarily the answer. Your landing page and the experience that follows deserve just as much attention as the advert itself.
Your landing page should deliver on your advert
If you advertise a specific product or offer, send visitors to a relevant page where they can find it immediately. A generic homepage, unclear promotion or different messaging creates unnecessary steps. Make the product, offer and next action obvious as soon as someone lands.
Make the mobile experience effortless
Many customers discover brands through ads on their phones. Check that your landing page is easy to navigate, text is readable, images display properly and buttons are simple to use. A website that looks great on desktop can still be frustrating on mobile.
Speed and trust matter
Slow pages can lose visitors before they explore your products. Optimised imagery, a sensible choice of apps and regular performance checks all help. Your website should also feel consistent with your advert: clear branding, genuine product photography or video, useful descriptions and easy-to-find delivery and returns information can help customers buy with confidence.
Remove friction from the buying journey
Look at the full journey from landing page to checkout. Can visitors find the right product, choose options, understand the total cost and complete a purchase without confusion? If your ads get clicks but sales remain low, review where people drop off before assuming you need more traffic.
